Start the day with a big American breakfast at the Lake Powell Diner at eight o’clock.
Come to the lake at nine. The weather is good. It’s warm and sunny. It’s a great day to go surfing or fishing on the lake. Our instructors are ready to help you. If the weather is not very good, you can go swimming in the swimming pool. Our instructors are there, too.
Are you hungry at one o’clock? The Diner has hot-dogs, pizzas, salads, ice-creams, fruit — all your favorite food for lunch, and as much as you can eat!
It’s video time after lunch. Or would you like to play computer games in the computer room? And our instructors can help you write your own programmes on one of the twenty ‘Apple’ computers there. Or do you want to read your book quietly in the garden? You can do that, too.
What else? You can ride a horse, ride or a bike, or rollerskate, or climb the mountains near the lake! Again, the instructors are ready. Let’s go! Or do you want to do some cooking in the ‘Cookhouse’? You can make your own cakes there!
In the evening there’s a barbecue at the lake or dinner in the Diner. There’s singing round the fire and dancing at the Lake Powell disco. Or would you like to play a quiet game of chess? Choose anything …

Healthy Lifestyle
Different people have different lifestyles. Some of them don’t think very hard if their styles healthy or not. But some time later, when people face health disorders and consult doctors, they start realizing their habits and tastes.
What is really a healthy lifestyle?
Very often we hear and read about a balanced diet nowadays, because it is very important. We should eat more fresh fruit, vegetables and dairy products. Forget about fast food forever! It’s extremely dangerous and harmful for our health. It is the main reason of getting overweighed and having stomach-ache diseases. During a day a person should drink from one to two litres of water. Doing sports is very useful. If a man cannot go to a swimming pool or gym, he should do morning exercises systematically, go jogging or cycling at least three times a week. If you want to feel energetic in the morning take a walk to school, if it isn’t very far from your home. You should also get enough sleep. Adults need 7-8 hours of sleep to fell well next day! As for teenagers,8-9 hours will be enough to be active.
Different stressful situations and harmful habits shorten our life. We should try to have only positive emotions.
Smoking and drinking alcohol destroy our organism very much. Especially it is of great danger for teenagers.
So, stop and think of your own lifestyle! We wish you a healthy and happy life!

THE NATIONAL SYMBOLS - Національна символіка
The Constitution states that the national symbols of Ukraine shall be the National Flag, the National Emblem and the National Anthem.
The Ukrainian flag consists of two horizontal stripes of equal width. The top is blue, the bottom is yellow. Blue and yellow, the colours of the sky, mountains, streams, and golden fields had symbolized Kyivan Rus’ long before the introduction of Christianity. With the acceptance of Christianity, blue and gold were incorporated into church symbolism. After the Mongol-Tatar invasion in the 1200s, the-use of blue and gold was interrupted to be revived again in church ornaments and city crests some time later. The emblem of the city of Myrhorod, for example, was a gold trident over a blue background. Another city, Pryluky, used the head of an ox in gold over a blue background as its insignia. And in Lubny the city emblem pictured a hand holding a golden mace over a blue background. The banners of the Cossacks (XVII century) were blue with gold stars, a gold cross or with pictures of saints rendered in gold.
The National Emblem is a trident. The first image of a trident appeared in the IX century A.D. When Ihor, Prince of Kyivan Rus’ from 912 to.945, sent ambassadors to sign a treaty with the Byzantine emperor, they sealed the document with a trident. As the official emblem of the Kyivan princes, the trident was stamped on coins and seals; it was depicted on porcelain and in frescos. It is thought that the trident represented -the division of the world into three spheres: the earthly, the celestial and the spiritual — as well as the union of the three natural elements: air, water and earth. The trident was endorsed as the National Emblem of Ukraine, and the blue and yellow flag — as the National Flag of Ukraine — by the Verkhovna Rada in 1992.
The lyrics to the anthem of Ukraine were written by Pavlo Chubynsky — a scientist and poet — in 1862. The music was composed by M. Verbytsky.

Ukrainians are famous for being real bravehearts from the times of Cossacks. The Cossack warriors were always ready to defend freedom of their homeland till death. Nowadays, it is easy to notice that the blood of brave Cossacks still runs in Ukrainians` veins. During Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity (2013-2014), Ukrainian people showed that they have no fear when standing together protecting their rights from any enemy. Nowadays, braveness and sense of justice of Ukrainians is reflected in numerous social initiatives, volunteer activities and demonstrations. When something is endangering rights and freedoms, Ukrainians immediately join their forces and respond.
Ukrainians are hospitable hosts
If you are invited to a Ukrainian home, you are a lucky person. Ukrainians are well-known for being perfect hosts. The guests are usually invited to a table full of tasty drinks and foods, including traditional Ukrainian meals such as delicious borsch and varenyky. Be ready for a long friendly talk: Ukrainians like to tell stories as well as listen to them, exchange experiences and tell funny jokes. They are interested to know more about any new person they meet, so you will be probably asked about your life and your home country. Just relax, have a good drink with your new friends from Ukraine and enjoy famous Ukrainian hospitality.
Ukrainians are suspicious to strangers at first, but become your great friends when they know you better
Don’t get upset if you notice that people in Ukraine don’t smile to you right away and look at you suspiciously. They do not think anything bad about you – this is just their typical attitude to strangers. When you start to communicate and Ukrainians see that you are a nice and trustable person, they will become your best friends! After “breaking the ice”, you will find out that Ukrainians smile a lot, like to have conversations and are always ready to help. Those who were looking awry at you, will suddenly turn into open, emotional and kind people.

Ability to make a clear plan, calmness and practical thinking are the things, which Ukrainians seem to lack sometimes. In this aspect, they can be compared to Italians or Latin Americans. Ukrainians are vivid, lively, emotional and spontaneous, but chaotic at the same time. They can start doing something but never finish it, or finish in a way, which was never expected. This feature sometimes can be a little annoying, especially for those who are used to well-ordered life. In general, Ukrainians are smart, but should learn to be more organized.
Remember these specifics of national character of Ukrainians, and you will find your best friends in Ukraine!

Every country has its customs. It’s very important to know them. The English are naturally polite and they are never tired of saying «Please», «Thank you» and «Excuse me».They are generally disciplined and reserved. You’ll never hear a loud talk in the streets.
At the British banks, shops, cinemas, theatres or bus stops you can always see people in queues. They stand in a line and wait quietly, often for a long time. Each new person stands at the end of the queue – sometimes in rain, wind or snow. The English don’t rush for seats in the buses and trains.
The English people do not shake hands when meeting each other, they do not show their emotions much.
The English are a nation of stay - at - homes. There is no place like home, they say. English people prefer small houses to live in.
The fireplace is the centre of interest in the room .They like to sit round the fire and watch dancing flames, exchanging the day’s experience. In many houses you’ll still see fireplaces, sometimes with columns on which there is often a clock or a mirror or photos.
The English people like gardening. They talk about it in their offices, in the shops and at home. In the evening they work in their gardens, large and small, and do it at any weather. How Do Teenagers in the UK Spend Their Free Time?
Teenagers in the UK enjoy various indoor and outdoor activities. A recent survey discovered that they spend about 45 % of their free time playing computer games and watching television, 24 % of their free time socializing, 22-23 % on sport and hobbies, and 10 % on other activities. Other popular leisure activities are listening to the radio, listening to pre-recorded music, reading, DIY*, chatting online, eating out and going to the cinema.

Playing computer games ranks the first place in the list of the favourite activities among the teenagers. The second most common leisure activity in the UK is watching television. The average viewing time is 25 hours per person per week. Many television programmes are about wildlife, animals, holidays, cooking and gardening. Teenagers watch TV before and after school.

Visiting or entertaining friends or relatives and going to the cinema are also very popular activities in Britain.

Music in the Streets
As you go home after a hard day’s work, and you get
off the metro train, sometimes you have to walk a long way to the exit or to
change trains. Suddenly in the noise, some music is heard. Those are street
musicians. You take out a coin from your pocket and throw it into their hat or
instrument case. These musicians bring color and life to the city streets.
Street musicians are aged between 17 and 30 years. Some of them are men, some
women. They play classical music, pop or folk music, old and new songs. Many
musicians are former university students or professional musicians.
Andrew Hain, for example, was once a music student,
but he gave up music and became a painter. Now he plays in the underground
because he doesn’t want to forget how to play. His girlfriend is a painter,
too. She helps him to collect the money. Another street musician, David
MacNell, tells new players:
“Learn new songs all the time, or else you’ll have
fewer and fewer listeners. Wear bright clothes to attract attention. Make sure
that the places where you choose to play are warm. The best places are and bridges
certainly the underground.”
On Sundays, Hyde Park is the best place as the
speakers here address the people. The street musicians are doing business with
their the many tourists who visit the park. The weather is one of the worst
problems. It is not so easy to play the violin or the guitar on a rainy day in
November London and try to smile.
A much worse problem is the police. From time to
time, they come, and the musicians are moved to a different place. True, they
are not often fined. One musician told me:
“The policeman asked me what I was doing. I said I
was just practising. Some money just fell out of my pocket into the guitar
case, and I was told to leave my place. I think it’s not fair. People love
street music. It makes the city more attractive.”
